Update...

Well this week so far I haven't been up to that much, my sewing machine is still broken even after someone having a look at it. Looks like I'm going to have to try and get a new one for when I start my Dressmaking course in a few weeks...

While being apart from my sewing machine I have been focussing on other things like baking and I'm going to attempt some knitting tomorrow.
This week I've baked...
A giant fudge cookie!
Cinnamon rolls (some with chocolate in)

These are some knitting and sewing patterns I picked up from the charity shop last week for 10p and 20p each!
The simplicity skirt pattern is gorgeous. Can't wait to make myself a mini skirt in this dogtooth fabric I have.

As well this week is very nerve wrecking for me, yet exciting at the same time. On Thursday I collect my A Level results, but the day after I'm going to Ibiza and then to Switzerland! Two very different places, I know but I really can't wait.

Before I finish the post, I really want to recommend Vintage Village in Stockport. I went on Sunday and I had such a good time having a look around and there are some great stalls!

Hope you are all having a good week!

Sixties envy...

Well it's obvious from my blog title that I adore the 1960's. Looking at these pictures of girls and their lovely clothes make me extremely jealous!
I wouldn't mind this dress in my wardrobe. Yellow is definitely my favourite colour!
More yellow...
Patterned dresses, not sure I'm tall enough to pull one of these off! They all look great with white tights. Loads of inspiration for when I start my course in Dressmaking.
Which one of these dresses is the prettiest? I can't decide. I think I'm swaying towards the blue one.
Final picture... This caught my eye on Instagram this morning. A winter pea green 'girlfriend' coat from vintage inspired brand Tara Starlet. They also do it in pink, I'm definitely saving up for this amazing 1960's style beauty!

Hope you've enjoyed the photos,
All the best
X

This week...

Well I've been up to a lot this week, from stitching to baking to shopping! Here's some pictures of what I've been doing...
My first go at making macaroons, these are raspberry flavour. Had a disaster with the piping bag so ended up cutting them into hearts!
More cross stitch, this is a small project from the Cath Kidston book called 'Stitch!'
Today I went to what might be my favourite shop ever! Urban Village in Birmingham, me and my Boyfriend always spend ages in there. I ended up buying this lovely dress.
Finally a trip to the Rag Market... Picked up this gorgeous paisley fabric and these buttons (not sure what I'll be using them for yet but just loved them!)

It's been a good week and hopefully my sewing machine will be fixed tomorrow, happy times!

Cross Stitch

After having a problem with my sewing machine which needs to be fixed, I decided to make something by hand to pass the time. After buying Mollie Makes magazine on Saturday I thought I'd have a go at making the cross stitch rose from the free gift.
I have done cross stitch before, but not since I was very young and that was more of a children's type kit, so I needed to refresh my memory on how to do it. After I got the hang of it I really enjoyed it (even though I made a few mistakes!). I'm quite proud of what it looks like now it's finished and I'd definitely do some more cross stitch when I get another pattern!

Car Boot Sale Finds

Last weekend me and my Boyfriend went to a local car boot sale and even though the heat and early start were exhausting we managed to find some good stuff!
The first thing I bought was this amazing vintage fabric, I love the 60's floral design and think it will make a lovely dress when I improve my sewing skills. There was loads of fabric and all for 50p so I was chuffed!
My next find was a Diana Ross and The Supremes vinyl. I love The Supremes, they are one of my favourite girl groups from that era, but until now I never owned anything by them on vinyl, so I was happy to find this. I also bought a case to hold my records in, it's a lovely tan colour and it's in really good condition, which is sometimes rare to find.
The last find of the day was One Step Beyond by Madness on vinyl. This is actually my boyfriend's as I already own a copy but it was a great bargain for 50p. Mostly at car boot sales and charity shops the vinyl you find is the stuff that nobody really wants like Mozart and old film soundtracks. So I was happy to find some decent albums.

Overall it was a successful day, we only spent £5 and what we bought was really good. I always enjoy having a look around anyway!

Hello!

Right, so this is my first ever blog post so bare with me. This blog more than anything is sort of a personal way of motivating myself in learning how to sew by displaying my progress. I'd love to be able to share this with other people though. I've not long got my first sewing machine and after practising I'm ready to go! I'm going to start out with one of the projects from the Cath Kidston book 'Sew!' from a set that my Mum bought me, so I'll just have to see how it works out!
